Last Thursday, California's Supreme Court overturned the state's ban on same-sex marriage, allowing the state's estimated 100,000 LGBT couples and thousands more from other states to marry. And while the impact of the gay-marriage decision on businesses remains to be seen, it was a day filled with emotion.

"It was an exhilarating feeling, that's the best I can describe it," San Francisco mayor and LGBT advocate Gavin Newsom said hours after the decision was announced. "I've been accused of taking this a little too personally, and I accept that critique."

California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, who has vetoed two LGBT-progressive bills in the past, said in a statement that he respected the Supreme Court's decision and "will not support an amendment to the constitution that would overturn this state Supreme Court ruling."
