The Human Rights Campaign (HRC) has released its 2010 "Best Places to Work for LGBT Equality," a list of companies that scored 100 percent on the HRC Foundation's eighth annual Corporate Equality Index, an in-depth analysis of nondiscrimination policies, domestic-partner benefits, diversity training, resources for LGBT workers and external support for LGBT consumers and recruits. This year, 305 large U.S. businesses earned perfect scores, up from 260 last year. Among the 305 best businesses on HRC's list, 58 companies are also on The 2009 DiversityInc Top 50 Companies for Diversity® list or one of the 11 specialty lists, while 39 companies are in the DiversityInc Top 50 only.
Some employers are indeed leading equality advocates, helping them retain the best and the brightest and influence government. "By mandating equal opportunity in hiring, ensuring equal compensation through medical and family benefits and promoting informed work forces and equal workplaces, these companies light the way for advances in state and federal law," said HRC President Joe Solmonese in a statement. "Corporate America continues to make progress, and federal law has to catch up. That's the job ahead of us."
