Oprah is in a no win situation. People are complaining and all she is doing is keeping her promise not to have presidentail candidates on the show. If Palin went on the show then someone would complain about the questions they were asking. Palin is not answering questions anyway so why bother! Stick to your guns Oprah, it YOUR show!!

I want be watching the Oprah show anymore or buying her magazine.She has treated Sarin Palin unfair.

.
Posted Wednesday Sep 17, 2008 by Guest;

I'm not for Oprah. But in this case I am. Oprah does not have to interview Sarah Palin.

The fact that Oprah is being boycotted is just silly and ridiculous.

They are trying to force Sarah Palin on people. You are just going to have more people against Sarah Palin when you are trying to force people to accept her.

Just because she is a woman does not make her a good candidate which she is not.

.

I'm so tired of people allowing the election to dictate our every day lives. Oprah has not had Barack, the candidate that she is in favor of on her show; so why should Palin have a platform? If people want to boycott the show it's their loss. Her show is a success and is greater than any election that comes and goes every 4 years... lets try to keep that in mind!

.
Posted Wednesday Sep 17, 2008 by Guest;

So Oprah refused to give Palin time on her show because she made a decision not to use her show as a political Platform for either of the candidates? Good for her! She stands by her convictions and I for one applaud her!

.

I think this it is disgusting and shameful for The Florida Federation of Republican Women to try to coerce and use their power to manipulate Ms. Winfrey and the media this way. I think Ms. Winfrey was wise in deciding and making it perfectly clear that while she personally endorsed one candidate, she would not use her show to promote either candidate. That is not what her show is about. Her show, as well as her magazine, are not political venues. They are for personal enrichment. There are more than enough media to cover this political race.

I think the Florida Federal of Republic Women should ask themselves that if they feel the same way if Regis & Kelly would not have them on their show? Or if Martha Stewart didn't have them on her show. These are not politically-geared programs. So why would you expect Oprah to change the mission of her programming to suit you?

This is a very narrow minded and biased approach and has made me seriously question the intent of the Republican Party. If I were Sen. McCain or Gov. Palin, I would immediately and thoroughly speak out against this boycott. It is divisive and does not make them look good at all.

.
Posted Wednesday Sep 17, 2008 by Guest;

There they go again. Republicans trying to run everybody's lives. The Florida Federation of Republican Women should go pound salt. I for one am not interested in Sarah Palin or what she has to say and for the record she has not excited me at all. And I am woman! If she has something to say let her say it at the debates. She and her cronies want to determine where she speaks and with whom.

If Oprah caves in to this bunch of wackaroonies I will be sorely disappointed in her. If they wish to promote this unqualified candidate it is all well and good, but do not attempt to make Oprah or anyone else do your bidding. I am sure O'Reilly would die to have her on, call him!

.

Now, let me get this straight. As of my most recent information, Gov. Palin's interviews are being managed closely. Media interview opportunities are not being offered on a broad basis. Some people are expressing concern that she is not being offered an interview by the Oprah Show Team? I'm not getting it. Were Gov. Palin/her supporters hoping she would get invited so she could say "No"?

.

I am now joining the Florida Federation of Republican Women.

.
Posted Wednesday Sep 17, 2008 by Guest;

Help me understand why Palin should be getting all this publicity. Who is the Republican Presidential Candidate - McCain or Palin? Don't you think we should be hearing more about McCain and what he stands for?

Good for Oprah. What part of "I don't use my show to promote either candidate" does this group not undertand?

.
Posted Wednesday Sep 17, 2008 by Guest;

This is really funny stuff. How many members in the FFORW? I don't think they'll bankrupt "O". Why are they insisting on Gov. Palin being on the show? Is it the number one talk show? Don't they understand Oprah has more money than...everyone, and what she says, goes. The Republicans couln't "run" the Dixie Chix out of town, I imagin Oprah will survive without their support.

.
Posted Friday Sep 19, 2008 by Guest;

If Oprah doesn't want to use her show for politics, why did she go out and interview Obama and endorse him? Seems to me like she is being one sided on this issue.

.
Posted Friday Sep 19, 2008 by Guest;

So Oprah goes out and endorses Obama publicly, gives speeches, travels with him and then refuses to have Sarah Palin on her show because she doesn't want to promote either candidate???? Oprah can invite whomever she wishes on her show but she should be honest on why she isn't inviting Sarah Palin.

.
Posted Friday Sep 19, 2008 by Guest;

Good for Oprah. She has the right as a professional, to choose any guest on her show. She decided not to use her show as a platform for any of the candidates. It demonstrates her professional integrity. Kudos to her! How interesting that Gov. Palin or her camp would show any interest on the Winfrey show!

.
Posted Friday Sep 19, 2008 by Guest;

I am sure The View would be happy to interview Sarah Palin. Oprah should stand firm on the integrity that she has about her show and not cave into the whims of the day. If the Cattle industry can't cause her to change her convictions, other groups she get it that she is her own woman, who owns her business and is setting her own course. I look forward to the presidential candidate debates. The VP debates will, at best, be entertaining.

.
Posted Friday Sep 19, 2008 by Guest;

Their actions reflect the Republican Party... If they cannot have their way, as they've been used to throughout their lives, then we'll cut you out. However, keep in mind, in a democracy, every voice/vote counts (or it does until the Republicans destroy citizens' electronic and paper votes)! Accept the decision of Oprah to use her program as "she" sees fit! She is not dependent on the Florida Federation of Republican Women, or any of their followers, to continue and ensure her success!! Now, that's powerful!! "YES WE CAN!"

.
Posted Friday Sep 19, 2008 by Guest;

First of all, Oprah does not have to kiss any boots. Awhile ago she said that she would NOT be having candidates on her show. Which is fair and neutral. So why should she have Palin on??? And who cares who boycotts her show. She is a powerhouse. Her ratings will still reign!!! Right on Oprah!!!

.
Posted Friday Sep 19, 2008 by Guest;

I am a woman and a mother of a Downs child and I got tell you, I relate to Palin on absolutely nothing. Leave it to the Repbulican party to continue their tirade of concentrating unsubstantive issues and finding more negativity in already dismal times. They are the party of hopelessness and hostility.

.
Posted Friday Sep 19, 2008 by Guest;

This is not news or really important in the entire scheme of what is going on in the US and the rest of the world. Last time I checked, the Oprah show is managed and run by Oprah, thus she has the right to pick and choose who shoe wants to grant a appearance. I would perfer to the see and hear from the two Presidential Candidates, not the running mates. Let them protest, that's a joke within itself. There are far more important issues that need protesting, but I don't see the women of that group standing strong for the increasing homeless and unemployment rate.

.
Posted Friday Sep 19, 2008 by Guest;

If Gov Palin was the presidential candidate then perhaps an interview would be okay but she's not. Whatever she wants to say, she should save it for the debate.

.
Posted Friday Sep 19, 2008 by Guest;

This is shameful. It is the Oprah Show and she can choose who she wants on her show. She has earned that right, by working hard to build her BRAND! Besides, Palin is not running for President. People it is about MCain and Obama. Don't get it twisted!

.

Oprah Boycott is Nuts

Republicans are borderline bi-polar, they are overtly in denial and when they have a cause...right or wrong...they are obsessed to the point of looking stupid. Just Who the H&ll do these women think they are. Oprah controls her show and she will not be controlled by the Republican rich, by the way are you worh billions like she is, I don't think you want to take her own....ask the Cow industry????

.

Oprah Winfrey. Check your facts People... Oprah Winfrey has already had Barack Obama on her show, So She told a BIG FAT LIE when she said she wasn't using her show for Publicity for the Candidates.. The Woman has already Had Barack and Michelle Obama on her show... GOOD HEAVENS!! DOUBLE STANDARDS.......

.
Posted Friday Sep 19, 2008 by Guest;

This is shameful. Oprah or her production company should not be requested to change their vision just to suit the repubilican party's agenda.

.
Posted Friday Sep 19, 2008 by Guest;

I find the republican's reaction very confusing. Clearly Palin has turned down hundreds of requests from the press to be interviewd.

The McCain campaign has said she won't give interviews until she's guaranteed the proper "respect".

Yet the one person who isn't interested in her has caused for a boycott? Republicans are pretty crabby.

.
Posted Friday Sep 19, 2008 by Guest;

Though I agree it is Oprah choice I am amazed at the seething comments from those that are what I been told are suppose to be neutral. No wonder why the "White Guys" think Diversity is a joke. If you are posting this type of hatred speech here, what are you doing at work? If you think for a moment that you can hide these types of biases at work, you are mistaken. That type of irrational hatred is worn on your sleeves in all you say, do and the way you treat people. But you rationalize that it is okay, because your okay with your attitude. These types of comments and behaviors are only okay if someone agrees with you position, if they don't they are wackos. What would these same people say if Obama was rejected by a Conservative talk show host who had McCain on? I am guessing that is a different story. That person would be a racist, a hater and should be run off the air for not allowing Obama or since we are talking VP let say Biden from not using that host forum. Heck we see this bias in most of the media all the time and we (in general) rationalized it as okay as long as it supports our side. Instead of slamming, articulate why your side is better. What has Obama really done that out shines McCain or Palin? In my mind only an idiot vote party line as if it is the Yankee vs Red Sox and an informed person votes for the best candidate based on the real merits and records. So can Oprah call the shot? Sure she can but apply the same measure to them as you would her. In other words if you are okay with her denying Sarah, be okay with someone denying Sarah's counterparts without complaint. That is what I would expect from my HR, EEO and Diversity staff to promote a model EEO program.

.
Posted Friday Sep 19, 2008 by Guest;

If the responses here are any indication the boycott is a bust! Oprah is a citizen like everyone else and has a right to go out and campaign for whomever she chooses. She isn't going to have Obama, Biden or McCain on the show, either. It's her show and it's my choice as to whether or not I watch. Anytime the subject matter interests me, I will look at the show - probably even more than usual now that it's being boycotted.

.
Posted Friday Sep 19, 2008 by Guest;

I hope that everyone who brings up the fact that Obama was on the show realizes that he was on the show WAY BEFORE he announced that he was running for President!

.
Posted Friday Sep 19, 2008 by Guest;

Oprah is RIGHT. If you saw the Charlie Gibson interview you would know Mrs. Palin has nothing to talk about and cannot answer a question. Leave her where she is. Then again her speaking on Oprah will allow Americans to see that the Obama/Biden ticket is the BEST for our country.

.

Check your facts, Sharon K. The Obamas were on the show before the DNC. Obama was not a candidate then, he was a contender for the Democratic party nomnation

.
Posted Friday Sep 19, 2008 by Guest;

TO Sharon K please check your facts they both we're seen on her show before he had accepted the Democratic nomination. please lets not call anyone a BIG FAT LIE.. because the republican Party is doing great job at it.

.

Do you REALLY think that Oprah gives a darn about the so-called boycott? Why don't they BOYCOTT Fox for not treating everyone equally and slanting the news?

.
Posted Friday Sep 19, 2008 by Guest;

I am not an Oprah fan at all but I agree with her on this because she is a big name in showbiz business and people have a tendency to follow what she says and if she has Palin it will seem as though she is in favor of that party and many people who watch may vote that because she was on the show. Granted Oprah could have all the candidates on the show but her show is not a political show and she may not want to play political host when there are plenty of those shows for the candidates to all lie on.

Most of all it is her show, so get over it and get your own shown to put the people you want on it.

.
Posted Friday Sep 19, 2008 by Guest;

I'm proud of Oprah for her deciding not to interview Gov. Palin during the presidential campaign. Oprah has expressed her personal support of Senator Obama; hasn't had Obama or Senator Biden, Gov Palin's counterpart on her show since her endorsement or any other candidate. Oprah expressed her decision as to why she didn't want her show used as a venue for the presidential or vice presidential candidates. To my knowledge Oprah hasn't closed the door on Gov Palin and would interview her after the national election. I think Oprah's wise and prudent decision should be respected. If the Florida Republican Women want to boycott...that's fine too. It will all be over in less than 50 days anyway!

.
Posted Friday Sep 19, 2008 by Guest;

It is unfortunate that soo many women are falling for this McCain ploy. The fact that he even chose Palin says he doesn't respect the intellect of women. He thinks you are so stupid as to vote for him because he has a woman as a running mate. The republican party is the oldest "good ol' boy" network. And if McCain wins Palin will realize that choosing her was a 'gimmick"....The vice-president doesn't "do anything", except what the president tells him/her to do. It won't matter if she's outspoken because she will attend funerals and dedications and be assigned "invisible" jobs. It is truly unfortunate that she doesn't realize it yet. I wonder why she thinks the Republicans won't let her "talk" to anyone ??????

.
Posted Friday Sep 19, 2008 by Guest;

In response to Sharon K, Senator Obama was not the candidate when he appeared on her show, I think January 2005. The Oprah Winfrey show is just that, Oprah Winfrey's show and she decides who is on and who isn't. In response to D Blessing, what has Sen. Obama done that McCaine/Palin haven't 1. Graduated from Columbia U 2. Graduated from Harvard Law School.

3. Taught "Constitutional Law" for 8 yers 4. President of Harvard Law Review 5. 8 years as a State Senator (McCaine) 6. 4 years as a US Senator (McCaine) 7. Married to a Princeton Graduate with a Law Degree from Harvard I think some of these things should account for something don't you????

It is a fact the Oparh had Obama on her show to discuss is life and book well before he began his presidential bid. Hillary never campaigned on the show. Oparh has not promoted any candidate from her show. She does not represent one political voice on her show because it is for "every women". Oparh, not her show, is supporting a candidate that has never been on the show as a candidate. So why are people "hating" that she step away from her show to partcipate in government , which is something we do not see of many black celebrities, performers, and athletes.

Can't Oparh be respected for being an American? Evidently not.

.

Thank god someone has the sense not to cave in to political hacks who think everyone should bow down to their candidates.

This world has not turned in to a political showcase for everyone who is running for office.

Gov. Palin & Sen McCain should stick to the political sites to tet their message out and not chastise someone who won't go along with their every whim.

Who are we votingfor here anyway?

Sounds like McCain has been greatly overtaken by Palin and her new team of politicians from Washington's right preventing her and everyone else from testifying in a hearing that a majority of Republicans voted to be investigated.

Palin & McCain are Washington/Bush politicians at their worst.

I would'nt have them on my show either!

.
Posted Saturday Sep 20, 2008 by Guest;

Sharon K GET OVER IT.

Obviously Oprah doesn't want to be taken in by the Washington as usual crowd supporting and pushing Gov. Palin and Sen. McCain.

I wouldn't either.

Gov. Palin & Sen. McCain are proving to be just what we have had for the past 8 years, politicians who put themselves ABOVE THE LAW.

What are they trying to hide with Palin and all her people refusing to testify in this hearing?

McCain and Bush's lobbyists and advisers are ALL up in Alaska trying to squash this, just as they have done to everything in the past 8 years.

I will not support it.

Thank goodness Oprah won't either!

.

Check your facts. Obama was on the show BEFORE he became the presumptive and now the actual nominee. She had also had Hillary Clinton and Rudy Guiliani, etc. on in the past, as well. So what. She is not having ANY OF THEM ON UNTIL AFTER THE ELECTION.

.
Posted Saturday Sep 20, 2008 by Guest;

She had Barack Obama on her show BEFORE he ran for President. After he started running she did not have him on her show. Duh. How many Presidential (Or Vice presidential) candidates did she EVER have on her show while they were running for office? Palindrones are looking for every excuse to pretend offense toward their candidate.

.
Posted Saturday Sep 20, 2008 by Guest;

Let's make sure we are making informed decisions and not decisions based on rumor. It is true that Oprah did have both Barack and Michelle Obama on her show PRIOR to him announcing his candidacy for President. As far as her endorsing him, she did that as OPRAH WINFREY, not under the umbrella of Harpo Studios or any of its other subsidiaries. As a result, she is not required to have the Palin's or the McCain's on her show. I believe she is sticking to her belief of not having either political candidate on her show until AFTER the election; and that is her right to do so.

It just so happened the Obama's were invited to the show for other reasons, not the political race. If you want to use this as your excuse to not watch her show, then fine - however call it what it is ... AN EXCUSE. Just like the excuse people are hiding behind the concerning that Senator Obama does not have the "experience" to lead this country. Side Note: When Palin's experience was questioned, there was a quick 2 step to change the topic. But behind closed doors comments are being made that they would rather vote for McCain than for a black man as president of the United States. Or my personal favorite that I've heard while attending an event with people who pride themselves on being educated ... "I'm going to move to Canada if HE wins". Let's deal with the elephant in the room. People are not comfortable with his race and as such are looking for anything to grasp on to, regardless of how illogical and irrational it may be just so they do not have to admit to their bias relating to race. Last time I checked the qualifications for the presidency, it did not have a clause stating the candidate must be a white male.

.
Posted Saturday Sep 20, 2008 by Guest;

Is Sarah whining again? First, it's very hypocritical that she can refuse interviews that may not "respect" her but should tell other people that they have to interview her on THEIR show. First, if she was ever paying attention to Oprah before and not try to use her show as an OBVIOUS political platform, she would know that Oprah does not allow her show to be a political arena. For those who so notably commented on the fact that Oprah had Obama on her show, REMEMBER (and I know you tend to have selective memory when you try to gain an advantageous point), Oprah had Obama on her show WELL BEFORE he through his hat in for the Presidential race. In fact, he was on her show to discuss and promote his book (so that he could finish paying those Harvard law school loans) and Oprah even asked him would he ever run for President and hinted to him that he should. This was at least a YEAR before he began his campaign. So, get the facts straight. And, while she has publicly ENDORSED him for President (after all, she did suggest and encourage him to do so), she has NEVER brought him on her SHOW to appear as a political candidate and use her SHOW for such endorsement. Any endorsement made for Obama by Oprah has been off the air and in the appropriate arena. And, since she is a citizen of this country, she does have the right to endorse and vote for a candidate like everyone else. So, while "fact finding" has never been a strength for this party, we will need this party to get their facts straight, stop whining, and win on substance not attacks!

.

Sharon k, It is NOT a double standard. It is HER show and she has a right to have who she wants and who she doesn't want on it. This IS America and we have that freedom. You want to boycott her for it? Good, go ahead. You and all the other neocons can go listen to Rush. Boy you are spoiled little brats when you don't get everything you want.

congratulations to Oprah Winfrey for not copping to the fanatic trend to get on the Palin bandwagon. Sarah Palin is nothing but a puppet for the bigger interests that back the Republican machine. We are a sorry nation if we elect those two to office. Very sorry indeed.

.

We are talking about FACTS. The fact is Obama appeared on the Oprah Show in 2004 after given the keynote speech at the Democratic Convention, he was still a Illinois state politician at the time. A month or so later he won a U.S. Senante seat. So, Oprah has not allowed her any 2008 presidential candidate on her show. And her right to not allow Palin is not only fair and equitable, it is also her right to her own personal convictions. I am sure after the election Gov. Palin would be more then welcome on the Oprah Show. CHECK YOUR FACTS....

.

Reverse discrimination is the name of the game when a person as wealthy and powerful as Oprah. She took her show on the road to give Obama the Black boast. This is the kind of things that have been used against blacks for years; however, Sara Palin should not be held responsible for others actions. Clearly, she has demonstrated leadership skills than Obama who will need to be told what to do to lead every person in the United States.

.

these are not the issues at all. Oprah has her opinions and so do everyone else.

Just who will lead the country. Who cares who is interviewed. We want a quality leader for our country.

I don't usually watch Oprah but I will now and I will Tivo it.

She's the host of her own show. Funny how cries of discrimination are bandied about when it starts affecting those whom it isn't a fact of everyday life.

Oprah is my new hero.

Oprah gives the impression that she is refusing to lend the weight of her show to either candidate giving the impression of being impartial. However, Oprah IS her show. She has definately blown away any possibility of fairness when it comes to the candidates. Dress it up any way you want to, Oprah has definately added her support and the support of her show to Obama.

.
Posted Tuesday Sep 23, 2008 by Guest;

Enough is enough. People can not force Oprah to bring Palin on her show b4 she plans on having her there. Who are out there stating how there is no real fairness when a Party would prefer to crossover than vote for a MINORITY? You Go Oprah!

.
Posted Tuesday Sep 23, 2008 by Guest;

Oprah has the choice to interview whoever she chooses. Oprah has never had anyone on her show who is a threat to the progression of women. Do you watch the show? It's about empowering women. Palin would take the right of women to choose; she hunts and kills animals for sport... she is street smart and business stupid.

Don't waste the air space, Oprah!

.

Oprah can have anyone on her show that she wants and no one can make her do otherwise. Find something more important to protest about i.e. healthcare, the economy, etc.

.

I've asked 10 of my friends to get an O subcription and they are asking 10 of their friends to do the same. And yes, while I love Oprah, I haven't watched it over the years because I'm at work. But now I have DVR and I'm watching every night!! Love you O&O! Hey maybe these Republican Floridian elitists can now feel our pain!! It's about time. Maybe the world can finally move forward because everyone now get it. Remember,"The moral arc of the universe is long but it bends toward justice."

.
Posted Tuesday Sep 23, 2008 by Guest;

I totally disagree with Ms. Tims. It is not reverse discrimination. If Oprah was to have her on her show, I think it would be detrimental to Palin. She would be torn apart, and maybe Oprah is just giving her a break. She does not stand for Women's issues and is proven to have falsified statements, many of them in this campaign. Just as Terrence said, check you facts. Alaska has the highest rate of Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault in the nation, and Palin has done absolutely nothing to help address the issue. Being an advocate of Social Change, based on this fact alone, she would never get my vote.

.
Posted Tuesday Sep 23, 2008 by Guest;

She "openly endorses Obama' That means that Obama is the person she (therefore her show) endorses. What is there to "dress up?" She never claimed to be unbiased. She is not obligated to provide even access by the candidates to her audience. She is not a news affiliate any more than Fox is.

As a Chistian woman, I have absolutely no use for a liar like Palin. Her being biologically female means nothing at all to me. She is a gun-toting war mongerer, as hawkish and testosterone loaded as Bush or Mc Cain. Nothing about any of her stated beliefs resonates with me as having any interest in womens' issues. I love Oprah, butI would not watch if Palin were to be a guest on that show.

.

I understand why Ophra does not want Palin on her show! She afraid she will loose 90% of her audiance, which are left wing liberals! It's all about the money, money, money! The liberal psychology will be the downfall of the USA, the saying goes "United we stand, and Liberals devide the country we fall"...You can keep your Ophra's, Whoopi's, Rosie's And Walters', they have no influence over me.

So the right wing anti-women rights women are boycotting Oprah? I think she should really be worried about part of her core audience leaving her. Bottom line is she is not CNN she has a talk show and she decides who comes on, not vice versa.

Senator Obama was on the show prior to running for President....Oprah is not obligated have Ms. Palin on her show..Yes Oprah endorsed him, but that was way after he appeared on her show and away from the show itself......

Oprah stated that after parties picked their choices, she would not have them on. And she hasn't had any declared candidates on her show to date. So why would she have Sarah Palin on? I have no respect for the Republican Party and their evil and vicious tactics. Just call the Floridian Women what they are: RACIST!

.
Posted Wednesday Sep 24, 2008 by Guest;

Sarah Palin is an empty skirt. I haven't heard anything from her that is enlightening or inspriring for women or our country as a whole. What is sad for the FL Federation of Republican Women is that they miss that Sarah Palin is a pawn being used by the Republican party to gain votes. But fortunately, the polls now show her effect is not working. What she offers to make this country better is not known and she continues to be shielded from the press. Why is that??

.
Posted Wednesday Sep 24, 2008 by Guest;

If Oprah refused in the beginning to use her show as a platform for either of candidates, then why should the rules change for Sarah Palin? Regardless of the fact that she is a woman, Oprah has openly endorsed Barack Obama and Palin has done nothing but trash him from the moment she came out of "nowhere."

.

Oprah owns her show and she can ask any person or persons she wants to appear on her show. She has the authority and she does not have to answer to anyone regarding her guests on her show. It is her house and you invite those you want in your house or home when you want them in your house or home. I betcha when she has her big giveaway prior to Christmas- they will try to get tickets so they can enjoy the splurge of her generosity. So do your thing Oprah.. Besides Oprah wud pic her apart and she would have to default to the 5th amendment....

I had this discussion with a neighbor recently who said that she wasn't watching Oprah as much because she was appalled that she would use her show to promote her political opinion. I countered that sentiment to say that Oprah merely did what she has always done. She shares on her show what she believes in and feels passionate about, whether it is books, injustices in society or relationships, philosophies of life or her "favorite things" that are consumer products. I think it has been Oprah's goal for some time to expose people to things on her show that will provide them with personal growth and/or simple joy. Her expression of support for Barack Obama is no different. And, in fact it could be argued that she has remained authentic by sharing her support. Because she gives so much of herself in a variety of ways and because the show has been such a staple in our lives for so long, maybe it has caused a reverse effect in that some may have come to feel she is obligated to us. The bottom line is, despite all that she has given in time, money and support to many, she doesn't owe anyone anything.

Shame on all of you who thinks that Oprah should be bullied into interviewing Governor Sarah Palin. Why should she? Well where were all the women supporters when Hillary was making her rounds. Oprah had Hillary and Obama on her show prior to either making a run for the white house. She adopted the policy not to have candidates on the show once she endorsed Obama. Oprah has a right to interview who she wants and that's that. There are so many other venues for Sarah to share her inexperience and lack of knowledge, so let her go for it. To castigate Oprah for her decision is like boycotting the family reunion. Oprah is in a position to pick, choose and refuse. Oprah is the epitome of the free enterprise system, so let the chips fall as they may.

To the Florida Federation of Republican Women....IT'S OPRAH'S SHOW!!!! She can interview who she wants, when she wants and where she wants! IT'S HER SHOW, NOT YOURS! Now I'll make sure I buy Oprah's mag, I'll tape and watch her shows...Get over yourselves Republican women...You're not all that, in fact, what you're trying to do makes you appear LESS THAN THAT!

It sounds like we've given Oprah more power than our running candidates. I would hypothesize that her influence on the average US citizen is comparable to that of our national rulers. Why do we not question where Oprah is taking us the way we do our national leaders? Is she doing good because she is good or to win our attention and our hearts so she can influence our ways of thinking and numb our judgement. I think ppl are too quick to defend her and extremely blinded by the way her philosophies and agenda have seeped into the American culture. Do we think for ourselves or do we think oprah?

.

One of your readers responded that "We give Oprah too much power" to basically sway our judgment. I would like to offer that if you are that easily swayed by celebrity and someone else's views; you can't blame Oprah for that. She is a media mogul and has the right to interview or not interview whom she wishes. If the fact that she gives away cars and builds schools makes any of us blindly follow her views and opinions then we are in a sad state of affairs. I say Oprah keep up the great work, and everyone else, think for yourselves.

If you come out in favor of one candidate over another, then there is no way, you are going to have the opponent on your show she stated two years ago, that she was voting for Obama, when she had Bush and Gore on back in 2000,she had not endorsed etheir one, in fact she has not brought Obama, Michelle, Joe Biden or his wife, who is also a very highly intelligent woman, who fights for education in this country, on her show since this campaign started, Obama came on before he made his bid for president, heh believe me you republicans will be ok and so will you Reagan Democracts,don't let those hatemongers destroy your soul too, although they may have you physically

I am so sick and tired of people being upset with Oprah because she would not have Palin on her show. First and foremost it is Oprah's right and her business if she does not have Palin on her show. It is her show and I am sure that from the onset Oprah has always said (she might not have told you)that she would not endorse "ANY" candidate. HELLO...........Oprah did not endorse Clinton and Obama they were guests "BEFORE" their decision to run.

Now let's talk about the real reason that Palin is so visible. Not because of her views but because she is a woman in the race. EXCUSE ME........ but I think that Hillary Clinton had the same thunderous round of excited applause when she was running. And actually Palins' round of applause is boring because well........ let's just say it is boring. And then let's also look at the fact that 99.9% of those who are applauding for Palin are those who applauded Hillary and are so burning mad at Obama for not choosing Hillary that they have crossed the fence and turned to Palin. They don't really want Palin they just want to take away from Obama. Then you have those who are not feeling the whole "black man for President" scenario. Those are the ones who are applauding for Palin. And last but not least it is so obvious just like a huge slap in the face that Palin is a set up. She was put there to sway the women votes away from Obama. So readers please tell me why in the world would you boycott Oprah? Just because she does not think like you on some subjects or issues. It is mighty funny that for those of you who sit in her audience and are blessed with free gifts (let's not talk about the cars that she gave away some years ago), bedding, and many other things you loved her and praised her but now...............because she won't have 1 individual on you want to boycot her show. That let's me know that you didn't give a hoot about Oprah. We can't all agree on some things but we can all agree to respect the other person. Excuse me.....did I hear you say that Oprah is not respecting you? I beg to disagree with you Oprah is not disrepecting you this is her show and she is following the guidelines of her show that were devised years before you were even thought of. And if you are so interested in Palin travel to a town closest to you where she is appearing and support her.

I applaud you Oprah for not letting Sarah Palin on your show what does she have to talk about, she was interviewed by Charlie Gibson and Katie Couric and made a complete fool of herself. She should contact Rush Limbaugh or Fox News for to see if they will let her on their programs. She should resign before McCain and his cronies give her the booth. I don't think Oprah will loose any sleep or money because a bunch of air heads who call themselves the federation of republican women. Kudos to you Oprah.

I don't buy into Oprah's power and her spiritual connections with the American public. However, I do understand her beliefs in not having Palin on the show. Palin and McCain have been many other shows and Oprah's is not one of them. Good for her. McCain is upset with the treatment that they received on the "The View." This election is just a bunch of overinflated political egos who want more candy that they deserve. Besides Palin will set the course of our nation generations behind.

Oprah said it best when she told women who were complaining about her support of women on her show. She said, "They forget, I'm a woman, but I'm a FREE woman". You go girl!! You republican shamefuls are not hurting Oprah for one minute. I will always support her and so will a lot of other people. My response to you is zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

.
Posted Saturday Sep 27, 2008 by Guest;

I typically do not respond to blogs or watch much of Oprah for that matter, but these crazy women have touch a nerve in me that requires my immediate attention. First and most importantly, it is Oprah's show, a show which IS NOT DESIGNED OR WAS IMPLEMENTED TO PROVIDE POLITICAL COVERAGE FOR CANDIDATES. Over the many years The Oprah Show as molded America, political war grounds have never been her forta. So trying to "Force" and "Boycott" Oprah, is just silly. I mean it is Oprah, where have you been.

My question is why the women of the Republican party are wasting so much time starting unneeded controversy,instead of using all of that build up energy to help unite this country. Perhaps start programs to rebuild America and eliminate some of this debt? For they,themselves are not at the level to not be affected by the financial crisis that America is experiencing.

Second, it is clear from some of the responses left by blogger's on this site, that there is a clear need for political research to be done. For some of you are completely lost on each of the candidates and their parties(this is something that must be understood before making any kind of statement). For if one was to have extensive knowledge of the candidates, they would know that Sarah Palin has refused several oppurtunities to receive private interviews and media coverage,but has declined numerous offers. I have yet to see any member of the women in Florida's Republican party speaking on that. Also, advisor's and publicist of the Republican party candidate's have failed to devote a 100% to their position in the party. Because if they were they would as mentioned before, immediately be in the media expressing their dismay towards the actions of the women in the Republican party in Florida.

Speaking as one that is not 100% Democrate or Republican, I feel that at this point in America something has got to change. We always try to blame Bush for the way that America has turned out, but in reality most of us must blame ourselves as well. As a firm believer of the old saying, "first time shame on you. Second time shame on me." Meaning in other words, that Bush should have never made it into office from the start but(though his cheating tactics) he made it first term. Ok! His actions displayed first term showed us, both Republicans and Democrats, that he was not able to lead the country. Yet, still we managed to elect him for a second term. So can we really say we are not to blame as well for how this country has turned out? No we cannot because majority of us are.

John McCain and Sarah Palin at this time should not be in office. It is not what this country needs at the moment. It is not to say that they are not worthy candidates for future terms, just not this term. John McCain does not strike me as a 100% Republican, but he doesn't strike me as someone that is NOT able to make concrete decisions on his own without the help of the Bush's administration. As far as Sarah Palin, well I feel that she is not fully equipped to deal with the many issues that come along at the vice presidential level.

.

We are all given the right to have our choice of candidates. Oprah is not a news show she is a talk show and she has the right to decline interviews. News shows are supposed to report the news no matter what there personal opinion is. The Oprah Show is not that. Palin whom is all of a sudden ready to give an interview should not be so picky and it seems just trying to add more controversy to this election.

.
Posted Saturday Sep 27, 2008 by Guest;

Oprah has the right to interview whoever she want. Sarah Pallin should go on "The View" as has her running mate John McCain.

Sarah Pallin is all BS. She really dosen't know what she is talking about as evidence by her media interviews. This is one reason why the Republican Party keeps her under wraps. She can't handle it. She dosen't understand the women's issue or care that John McCain voted against tehe Equal Pay amendment for women. She is "definitely" no Hillary Clinton.

.

A boycott on Oprah's show is making Republicans look even more stupid. It's Oprah'show. She owns it! She can have whatever view she wants. She can have whomever she wants on and suggest who she will not have on. Get over it! She said she would interview her after the election. This boycott will not be successful because there are not that many stupid people in the world who will try to dance with power. Oprah is power.

.

Ever since Oprah endorsed Obama there has been some form of protest from a group of women in this country.

Oprah has the right to determine who will or will not be a guest on her show. Just like she has the right as a private citizen of the United States to support the candidate of her choice. A right which too many of her fans do not seem willing to acknowledge.

.

I don't see anything unfair about Oprah's decision to not interview the presidential/vice presidential candidates until after the election. Does the Florida Federation of Republican women have a problem with the fact that Ellen Degeneres has interviewed Barack & Michelle since he become the democratic nominee but has not interviewed Sarah Palin? Do these same women have a problem with the fact the Sarah Palin had been protected from public interviews until two weeks ago? And based on her poor performance the McCain campaign had good reason to protect her.

Since the time African-American landed on these American shores in shackles, our primary stuggle has been our fight for freedom of choice. It came under many others names like social justice, civil rights, equal opportunity, equal rights, etc. But the ultimate goal was freedom of choice. If any African-American has demonstrated to ALL America, and especially to African-American women like me who came off a share cropper's farm, nobody has done that like Oprah Winfrey. Oprah owns her own stuff (The Oprah Winfrey Show), so she does not owe anyone "equal time". It's her time to do as she chooses. She made it very clear where she stood from day-one.She has not deviated from that stance. Two things things we need to keep in mind. First, Obama is running for President of the United States, and Palin is not running for President. Second, when one makes a decision, you honor that by standing by your decision. She gets my vote for being a person of dignity and integrity.

Oprah has every right to interview any candidate she wishes. In particular, if no candidates are interviewed on her show(Democrat or Republican) then the decision to not interview Palin is an easy one for her to make. However, she (and her viewers) shouldn't be surprised if some of her viewers are upset when she turns down an interview with a potential female candidate for Vice President. Many women see Oprah as one of the leading woman fighting the fight for women's rights and women's issues.

In my opinion, this is a sticky situation for Oprah. While she is publicly backing Obama, any dismissive behavior toward a Republican party candidate is going to be construed as a negative impact to the Republican Party. Oprah does have power and influence in this country. When she chooses to take an action against the party of some her followers, it is not surprising that some viewers feel betrayed. Oprah's viewers come from all political parties.

I am, however, surprised this is the first we are hearing from the Florida Federation of Republican Women. Why didn't this boycott begin when Oprah chose to back Obama? It is strange to me that this is just now becoming an issue.

I firmly believe that had this happened with a Democratic candidate there would have been some women's democratic group that would have done the same thing. While Oprah has the American right to choose who she wants to interview on her show, so do her viewers in wanting to boycott it.

If she chooses not to bring politics into her place of business where she employees people from all political demographics, I say BRAVO. It is not like there are not enough shows out there for Palin to get her qualifications out there. Focus on the bailout in the US instead of the Oprah show...please

Oprah really does not want to have to try to restrain her laughter. Sarah Palin is being used as a pawn by Sen. Mccain. The women of this country have waited a long time for us to have a female in the white house.....The least the party to do is prepare her for her interviews....She may be an intelligent woman but she sure is not coming off that way....If I was her I would resign now and go back to Alaska....It is scary thing that she may well be the 2nd in command of our Nation and can not answer questions in an interview any better than she did with Katie.....SAD

.

I wonder what Palin or the Florida Republican women have ever done for Oprah that they feel she owes them that. What would Oprah and Palin discuss? Oprah is an intelligent woman. She and Palin have nothing in common. For women everywhere that value the freedom we have in society today as women - Palin is a neanderthal. Oprah does not owe her that. She didn't have Hilary or Biden or Obama or Michelle on the show either. The kind of attitude of entitlement is exactly what is wrong with our country. You work to earn what you get - you are not special because you are white or female or anything.

Amazingly, Sarah Palin may be a women, but she is by no means a representation of me nor my beliefs. I'm affended by the the republicans and John McCain to insult my intelligence with the selection of Palin. I question the character of those women who follow her and her maternal beliefs.

.

Oh come on!! If you saw the interview with Katie Couric you know Sarah Palin is an airheard who is not qualified to run anything, not even a Dunkin Donuts. Those republican women need to wake up and smell the coffee. If I were Ophrah I would not have her on my show either.

I respect Oprah's right not to have Palin on her show, afterall it is her show. As a fan of Oprah, I'm disappointed. She is using her "celebrity weight" to back her candidtate of choice and that is her perogotive.

I am however, disappointed in all of the women I see outright bashing Sen. Palin. At least support the fact that a woman has finally been taken seriously in politics and will be a part of a strong race to the finish. Whether or not you "like" Palin, at least support women. I personally like the fact that she is not a polished politician. I'd much rather vote for a person among the people as oppossed to a politician who can speak well.

.
Posted Tuesday Sep 30, 2008 by Guest;

Oprah endoresed Obama...logically why would she want to give Palin a platform for exposure? It is more of the fake outrage by conservatives. Republicans knew this; politically going on Oprah makes no sense, unless they want another Katie Couric-like "grilling" (laugh) of Palin like what happened last week.

People felt they related well with George W Bush too. They felt he was the type they could "have a beer with." Look how things have turned out. When we are considering who to vote for, you should be considering it like it is a job interview of your own company, no? Do you want the most qualified candidate who has leadership, charisma, exudes confidence, is highly intelligent and has great ability to analyze information and make decisions? For me Obama is the candidate that does that. Even McCain - a little bit (too bad he wasn't the Republican choice in 2000, we would have been a lot better off than Bush at least.)

Palin happens to be a women, but doesn't support classic "women's issues". So why would women want her, much less Oprah? Hillary Clinton in terms of experience and qualification would have been a true "women's" choice and advocate, aside from the private family issues that were politicized by Newt Gingrich back in the 90's, but I didn't hear republican women running to the voting booth to get her elected, so why would democrat or moderate women do so for Palin?

So come November 4th, please don't vote simply because Obama is part African American, or that Palin is female. Hold the highest office in the country to a higher standard than that.

Thanks God Oprah is not interviewing Palin on her show. I hope she doesn't interview her in November either. Palin has a smart mouth and she has a knack for inserting her foot in that mouth. Yesterday, she tried to make fun of Joe Biden's age saying she has been hearing him speak "since I was in second grade." Well, that means she must've been hearing her running mate, John McCain speak from the her mother's womb.

Sarah Palin is an embarrassment to other women who have risen to the top of their respective professions.

It's Oprah's party and she can invite who the heck she wants.

From so many American women in an uproar, I can see that when it comes to the White female feminism trumps patriotism, because nobody's asking her to "prove" her readiness to assume the next highest office in the land. You all know with a good amount of certainty, that if she were a Black candidate (Republican or Democrat) she would have been well vetted (especially by the same White that are giving Sarah Palin a pass because you want to see your kind in the whitehouse so badly).What's worse, I have yet to see the "vast" intelligence you're all professing in the limited number of interviews McCain has allowed her to do. He's been playing "Big Daddy McCain" since bringing her out and like the little girl he secretly believes she is. American women should be in an uproar over this, but such is not the case. Infact, their silence is definning. While she continues to behave like a high school sophomore, hurling mean, biting at other candidates, not only shows she's not ready for prime time white house politics, but McCain continues to protect her by trying to scare the media and other candidates from retaliating in kind, or taking her to task for her childish behavior. She is an embarrassment on so many levels and American women should stop overlooking her faults and get real with Ms. Palin. Neither she nor her husband should be able to recuse themselves from a legal subpeona just because the Republican party is blocking the legal system for them. McCain has literally squashed the "troopergate" investigation to the point that it's been wiped away from tv and print media. Now they're controlling what Biden can or cannot say to Palin, while this separatism and privlege is not given to male candidates. This makes us as women look like a bunch of wooses and negates all the strides we've made since the sixties. She has reversed the feminine movement back a hundred years and reduced us to the category of "airheades" who need a man to lead us, coach us on how to act and what to say, and not equal to men. Ask yourselves, was it worth it?

I think people have a hard time allowing Oprah the private citizen, who has not announced her candidate on her show, to be just that- a private citizen with a choice. Oprah the talk show Queen, has not used her show for political gain for none of the candidates and why should she be bullied into doing that now? Shame on those who are trying to bully Oprah for their own selfish gain! Besides, Palin is not worth being on Oprah. She can't talk on anything for forty or fifty minutes.

.

I've never been a fan of Oprah and her show. However, she can do whatever she feels is right for her and her money-making machine.

So what she doesn't want Sarah Palin on her show! It doesn't mean she's taking sides or using her show as political leverage. It means she doesn't want Sarah Palin on her show.

So what Sarah Palin is a woman! Being supportive of her because she is a woman is shallow. The elections are about which candidates support enough of the issues we care about to place in an office that matters. Our personal views only cloud these issues. I may support her because she's a woman but not because she's short and blond. I may support McCain because he's a vet or Obama because he has ethnic ancestry. I may even support Hillary Clinton because she was a woman scorned. How is any of that going to help me vote for the proper candidate?

We have to draw our lines in the sand and stick to our decisions. While Oprah and I may have differences of opinion on lots of topics, this is one decision that I'm glad she made and I applaud her for it.

Looks like the someone is hard at work creating negative press. Could it be because Oprah supports Obama?

With power comes responsibility. Oprah is willing to take the responsibility for not having Palin on her show. Power gives her the ability to make choices and she has chosen not to have Palin on her show. I hope that women of all political persuasions will be smart enough to respect her for her choice in this situation. Palin has had enough air time to choke herself already. Maybe Oprah is doing her a favor!!!

Does this group actually think she would come on the show? An hour long interview? McCain would never let her...not after the Couric interview. And it would be a no win situation for Oprah. They are accusing Katie Couric of asking "gotcha questions." You know, those really difficult questions like what do you read????? She wouldn't dare come on Oprah.

C Jenkins,

You are right. If you just contrast their educational backgrounds there is a big difference. I work for a community college and cannot be promoted to director until I get my masters. But Palin and McCain both only have bachelors. You also need a masters to teach in most places...but you don't need all that much education to run the country. What are we coming to? And why does everyone want to vote for someone just because they think they could shoot the breeze with them? I want the smartest person for the job, I can have a drink with my neighbors and friends.

she has the right to do what she wants (of course), but if she wants to be fair, if she wants to keep her audience happy, if she has nothing to fear, then why not just have her on?

Of course she is taking sides. Open your eyes. Just admit it.

It doesn't matter so much that she is taking sides, what matters is that she's lying about it, trying to deny what is obvious.

Oprah is doing Sarah Palin a favor by not having her on the show.

Sarah could never go up against Oprah in an interview. She would look like a bigger laughing stock if she were interviewed for an hour by Oprah. Imagine if the audience asked questions! Although it would make *good TV!*

Now-a-days we can all use an extra laugh!

Oprah's viewers are NOT going to boycott her show or anything else she does.

I just hope people are smart enough not to vote for people who can only bash others and NOT talk about the really important stuff like the economy and people losing their pensions, retirement and money they worked for all their lives.

I would not be half as upset as I am if McCain and Palin ran a clean race. Their behavior is dispickable and getting worse as the minutes go by.

Do people really want their president and vice president to act like McCain and Palin? The entire world is watching what is going on here!

Oprah is playing fair! She has publicly taken sides and is supporting Barack Obama.

But she has chosen not to use her show to endorse or support any candidates during the preseidential race.

If Palin (and supporters) would like, Oprah could publicly say what she thinks about her too - outside of her show of course to stay true to what she's previously stated - not to use her show as a political stage during this campaign.

As individuals we have the right to say what we will and will not do. Just as we ask and expect others to respect our opinions and views, the same goes for lady O. Just because you watch Oprah and may support many of the ideas and projects she presents doesn't mean she owes the american people anything. I like Tide detergent and I don't expect the manufactures of Tide to call a meeting with Gain so I can know the pros & cons of Gain. Wake up people and STOP being so STUPID. Hi,I think oprah has the right as a citzen to say who she wants on her show.Its funny to me that america hasn't changed a bit when it comes to racism.sarah palin during her public speeches condumes racial remarks that comes from her supporter and this is a lady that wants to appear on a black sucessful womans show.I think america should wake up.John Mccain came to our town during martin luther kings birthday in memphis,tn .and the only good thing he could say was at one time he was for jim crow laws. so if you where for jim crow laws then what makes him so different now.mccain is not for change and americas scared that obama is going to be for all blacks and thats not fair.obama is for change for all americans but they don't think he can do the job because they think all black people are deceitful,don't wanna work,and are lazy but all black people are not the same and thats what america needs to realize times have changed THAT'S WHY IT'S TIME FOR A CHANGE.

not all of us care if oprah invites palin to her show - not all of us watch oprah - and we will still vote for palin on 11/4.

many of us have seen oprah on the news telling us that barack is "the one" - we have to wonder one what however. if he is elected we may all have to find out - and it may be must more enlighteneing than we have been privy to so far.

Lord, what is the problem?! It's her show...sounds simple enough for me. I think people just love to have something to gripe about. She doesn't want the woman on her show at this time. Why is that so hard for some to understand?

To "dappy dappy" the same holds true for Sarah Palin and John McCain. They've been much less forthcoming about their plans if elected. Too busy Barak bashing who knows what they will do? We really won't know the total truth until after the election!
