In its first time on the list, Time Warner Cable demonstrates that it has a diverse work force that is getting more culturally competent through strong training and with the use of excellent employee-resource groups.
Time Warner Cable has an increasingly diverse work force that reflects its customer base. Its work force is 43 percent Black, Latino and Asian. Its managers are 29 percent Black, Latino, Asian and American Indian.

The company has 10 employee networks that get a perfect score for best practices. That includes having a senior manager as a member, allowing groups to meet during the day, funding them and using them for both recruiting and marketing purposes.

Time Warner Cable also has mandatory diversity training for its entire work force, held monthly. Internal and external trainers are used, and there are metrics and formal follow-up to assess success.

The company gets a perfect score for the way it positions diversity on its web site, including images of people with disabilities and content addressing the LGBT community. Time Warner Cable also spends 21 percent of its advertising budget with multicultural media.
