I happen to work for a manager who overuses these three techniques, and so her words to not appear sincere. In fact, in everything she does, it appears there is an ulterior motive and so many do not find her trustworthy, and so her words tend to ring hollow. .

Dear NNSome managers are not sincere, you are right! However, many do not know what types of things they can do to support their employees. These are only 3 techniques, there are many more. When you have a manager that will not support you,it presents you with other options: ask for a transfer to another area(don't burn bridges however), hire an Executive Coach who can help you in your specific situation, or find another job where you feel rewarded and appreciated! Thanks so much for your comments. I hope this helps!.

I cannot be 100% myself at work. I have been in past jobs but in my current job, which I've been in for 1 1/2 years, the mentality of the other employees is so fierce and so cold that not even MY very fun personality can break through. Oh, I have tried. I simple had to give up. .

When you find that you cannot bring your whole self to work, here are a few strategies that can help:
1) Bring in a photograph that makes you happy and centered. It may be a loved one, or a picture of a wonderful vacation or memory.
2) Place a small object on your desk that helps you to relieve tension and stress at work.
3) Make sure to form a support network that yo u can count on in other arenas away from work. It can effect your health and y our mental health when you do not feel supported.
4) Remember that work cannot define you. You can be your cheerful self without any validity from anyone else. Even those who are cold and unresponsive.... at work. best of luck!
Prosper,
Coach Lynn.
