2007 Out & Equal Awards Are Out! And the Winners Are ...

Industry leaders from across the nation convened in the nation's capital last month for the 17th annual Out & Equal Conference to weigh workplace issues of concern to the LGBT community, to talk about the landmark Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA) now in Congress, and to celebrate the accomplishments of the LGBT community along with corporate leaders that enable it. DiversityInc was there--read about what happened.

 

The annual Out & Equal Workplace Awards honor companies and individuals that have demonstrated superior commitment to LGBT workplace inclusion. Nearly half of all award recipients are in or affiliated with the The 2007 DiversityInc Top 50 Companies for Diversity®.

 

 

Here's the complete list of 2007 Out & Equal Workplace Award winners:

 

Workplace Excellence: Honors any employer with historic and continuous commitment to advancing LGBT rights in their workplace and setting an example for others to model

  • BJ Kamigaki, quality engineering section manager, Hewlett-Packard Co., No. 49
  • Frank Kameny, gay-rights pioneer and activist
  • Jennifer Martin, employee relations manager, Best Buy
  • Kathleen Marvel, senior vice president and chief diversity officer, Chubb & Son, one of DiversityInc's 25 Noteworthy Companies in 2007
  • Nicole Raeburn, associate professor of sociology, University of San Francisco  

Champion Award: Honors a non-LGBT individual who has advanced LGBT equality on LGBTs and demonstrates personal commitment to equal workplace rights
